Funding Your Internship
College of Design and PPPM Funding Opportunities
The Gregory R. Pulliam Student Assistance Award supports undergraduate students in PPPM and is to help offset expenses directly relating to research or an internship opportunity. Expenses may include travel, books, supplies, materials, tuition, fees, or conference-related fees/travel. Preference may be given to students whose research or internship opportunity is in the area of community development. Primary selection criteria is academic performance/merit.
Announced: typically spring term for summer award
The Kantor Family Internship Fund supports enrolled PPPM majors and students pursuing MPA, MNM, and MCRP degrees who are selected for internships involved with energy and in energy-related fields. Preference will be given to students focusing on energy issues in Oregon. Students who apply for the Kantor Scholarship must plan to return for at least one additional academic term following their internship.
The award may be used to help fund internship-related expenses including travel, supplies, materials, tuition and student fees, and living expenses. While financial need may be taken into consideration in making the award, the primary selection criteria shall be based upon previous academic performance and the merits of the student’s intended internship plans.

The PPPM Public Service Award is intended to off-set some of the costs of an unpaid, public service-focused internship. The award is open to PPPM undergraduate majors and students pursuing MPA, MNM, and MCRP degrees. Eligible internships (minimum of 18 hours/week during a 10-week term) must be in the nonprofit or public sectors and clearly support a student’s career goals. Funds may be used for travel, living expenses, transportation, and tuition and fees. Funds will be placed in award recipients’ UO student accounts.

Rutherford Middle East Initiative
Rutherford Undergraduate Awards
The Rutherford Middle East Initiative invites UO undergraduate students to apply for an award to help cover the costs of Study Abroad or an Internship (with or without a research component) in the Middle East/North Africa. Up to $6,000 to offset costs of internships in East/Southeast Asia.
Rutherford Graduate Student Travel Grant
The Rutherford Middle East Initiative invites UO graduate students to apply for a travel grant in order to carry out research and/or do an Internship in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA). The research and/or Internship period must be a minimum of three months in a MENA country.

UO Graduate School Special “Opps” Travel & Research Award
This competitive travel award up to $500 is to help graduate students take advantage of special opportunities to advance or present their research. This award includes applications to travel to participate in a significant professional development activity. Recipients whose proposals involve international travel are eligible to receive up to $1000. Applicants must identify how the funds will advance graduate research and career.
Must be a graduate student in good standing at time of application

National Grid
A $15,000 award for a self-initiated public service project to be completed anywhere in the world.

Global Oregon Graduate Research Award
Five annual $2,000 awards to fund research or other appropriate projects that advance the academic and professional goals of students.
